Take a moment to look at our mapping system and make a map. You can just play around with it or get right in there and make a map of the next ride you want to take. You will notice that there is a "tutorial" that can take you through the steps of making a map to help you the first time. Soon you will be an expert making maps so good you will have to share them with the other members of MTA.com.

Things to remember:

To begin, all you need to know is where you plan to make your destination. Then you can put in the starting and ending points, save the map, research where you want to stop along the way, go back to the map and edit as many times as you need until its the perfect map to the perfect trip. Take your time...no worries. It will be there whenever you are ready to continue.

CURRENTLY, we only have the capability to put in a maximum of 8 way-points per map. These are the places between the beginning and the final destination that allow you to use the icons to specify what the way-point is..i.e. Hotels, B&B, gas station, etc. If you want to use more than 8 way-points, make one map of the total trip, use it to invite your friends, family, or club members along then make multiple maps using way-points broken down into day 1, day 2, etc., to print, email to anyone that has decided to come along, or put on your blog page or web-pages. You can tranport your maps to anyplace you like.

These maps can be used by all members of MTA.com if you select "public" when you save the map. This will allow everyone the opportunity to enjoy your trip. The icons will show people where to expect to find things along your route and you can advise them to use the places you chose and why. You can also let them know when something isn't your idea of a place worth seeing and why. They can even use your map and edit it to use for their own trip but, yours stays safe and sound, just the way you made it.

So, I hope you will  make maps of all the trips you have taken in the past and allow your biker bretheren to consider taking them, as well. Encourage all your friends to come and play with us!  Together we can have a fabulous network of all the best road trips on the most beautiful roads, the most challenging roads, or the roads that were the best kept secrets. Enjoy!!   Judy LaParne

One thing to note about using the "ICONS"; once you put in a way point, left click on the way point and a box will appear. Fill out the spaces in the box and use the icons to specify what the way point actually is. Then, take a minute to comment in the final space and let us all know if it is a place worth going, if it wasnt worth being there, if you would recommend it to your riding friends or not. There is an icon for everything we could imagine but, if you have a suggestion for another, let us know.
